Heritage, hearth,
and honest plates.
Proper British food, cooked with care from fresh ingredients, served in a historic village inn, and brought to your door when you cannot make it in.

The Willow Tree stands on Front Street in Barnby in the Willows, a Nottinghamshire village in the Trent valley, a short hop from Newark. For generations this has been a place where lanes meet, fields roll away toward the river, and people still look to the pub as the heart of the community.
The building is Grade II listed: a mid-18th-century converted barn & farmhouse that has anchored the streetscape since the 1700s. It has been licensed since the 1870s, with a long continuity of welcome, fireside evenings, and food for workers, families, and travellers passing through the countryside.
We respect that history. The beams, the stone, and the setting are part of the meal: you are dining inside a story that belongs to the village as much as it does to us.
Our menu is built around hearty British cooking: roasts and pies, fish and chips, seasonal mains, stone-baked pizza, and the kind of lunch plates you want mid-week. We are not trying to be a white-tablecloth tasting menu, and we are not a freezer-to-fryer bar snack operation either: we aim for generous portions, clear flavours, and the polish you would expect from a kitchen that takes pride in every service.
Fresh ingredients
We cook from what is good today: quality meat and fish, vegetables treated with respect, stocks, sauces, and pastry made in our own kitchen wherever it makes sense.
Hearty & British
This is food to satisfy: roasts, gravies, proper chips, regional touches, and puddings worth staying for: the repertoire people seek from a country inn.
Delivery as well
